Just Say No to Box Color

One of the first things you learn about in cosmetology school is the damage that box color does to a client’s hair. Box color is over the counter hair color you can find in any CVS, Walgreens, or convenience store. There is a popular one for men called, “Just For Men”. Do yourself a favor and do not use those on your hair.
Box color contains harsh chemicals like ammonia and bleach. Most hair color and lightener contain bleach, but not at the amount that box color does. If you want color, let a professional do it. They know how to mix color and the right volume of lightener to preserve the integrity of your hair. I’m not just saying this to make sure colorists can get paid. You can actually feel the difference between the hair of someone who had their hair professionally colored and someone who colored their own hair with box color.
